Incorporate Your Business in Ontario — Federal or Provincial

We handle Ontario and federal incorporations end to end: name search and NUANS report, articles of incorporation, registration, your CRA business number and tax accounts, and the year-end and payroll setup that has to follow. Most incorporations are completed within a week.

    What’s included

    • A NUANS name search, so your name is available and protected.
    • Articles of incorporation prepared and filed — Ontario or federal.
    • Your minute book and share structure set up properly.
    • CRA business number registered.
    • HST and payroll accounts opened if you need them.
    • Your fiscal year end chosen deliberately, not by default.
    • A conversation about what changes afterwards — and what it will cost to run.

    Who this is for

    • Sole proprietors whose income has grown enough that incorporating saves tax.
    • Contractors whose clients require them to be incorporated.
    • Anyone starting a business who wants it structured correctly from the beginning.
    • Partners going into business together who need the shares set up properly.
    • People who want liability separated from their personal assets.

    What it costs

Every situation is different, so rather than posting a flat price list we look at your full picture first — how many
years, what type of return, how complex the business is — before we tell you what it will cost.

    Common questions

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to incorporate in Ontario?

[INSERT ALL-IN FIGURE.] That is the government filing fee, the NUANS name search and our fee together, quoted before we start.

Should I incorporate federally or provincially?

Provincial is usually enough if you operate only in Ontario. Federal gives you name protection across Canada and makes sense if you will work in other provinces — it costs a little more and adds an annual return each year.

At what point is it worth incorporating?

Usually when you are consistently earning more than you need to draw personally, because profit left in the company is taxed at the small business rate. Liability and client requirements matter too.

When is incorporating not worth it?

If your business income is modest and you are drawing all of it to live on, incorporating adds cost and paperwork without saving tax. We will tell you that rather than sell you a company you do not need.

Can I incorporate a business I already run as a sole proprietor?

Yes. The existing business rolls into the new corporation, and it needs to be done in the right order so you are not taxed on the transfer.
